We know that cosmetic dentists can always bring a smile back to their patients’ faces by whitening, brightening and repairing unsightly teeth. But we also believe that cosmetic dentists themselves will smile more if they embrace a broad internet marketing and communication strategy that includes blogging.
Yes, blogging. Blogging is not just for soccer moms or tech CEOs or political pundits anymore. Blogging – along with Internet marketing, social media, search engine optimization and other digital strategies – is important for every cosmetic dentist, indeed every cosmetic practitioner, who wants to be found by his or her social patients.
So here are a two starter tips for those of you who are eager to get blogging – with more to come next week. As you read, however, keep in mind that blogging is something that Crystal Clear can do for you, if you decide you’d rather work harder on improving smiles than on writing new blog content every week (but more on this later!)
Build your blog content with Search Engine Optimization (SEO) in mind. Visitors will find your blog and / or website the same way they find everything else: By searching for you on Google and other search engines. This fact of 21st century life means you need to optimize your content.
What does SEO mean for the average cosmetic dentist (or plastic surgeon or cosmetic dermatologist or chiropractor, for that matter)? When you write your blog, use those key phrases that
drive the business of your practice – and your patients’ online searches.
For a cosmetic dentist, that means mentioning cosmetic dentistry in every single blog. It might also mean adding in key phrases and / or important procedures, like tooth whitening, tooth bonding, tooth veneers, and dental implants, to name a few.
So before you publish your first blog post, take the time to do the following:
- Create a list of keywords that you believe your patients will search.
- Check your content for those keywords.
- Add alt text for any images you use concerning the above (alt text is the text that labels the image; eg. tooth veneer for an image of tooth veneers.)
- Link from your blog post to other parts of your website.
Post blogs frequently for improved SEO: If you plan to write a blog, do it frequently – ideally at least once a week.
Yes, that’s correct, I said (or wrote) once a week. Writing unique content every week will update your website regularly and thus keep the site itself optimized for search engines. It also will help drive more of the kind of traffic you want to your website (i.e. people looking for cosmetic dentists and the specific services they provide).
Sounds like a lot of work, eh? That’s why we at Crystal Clear DM so often do blogging as part of our total digital marketing package. If you’re interested, please contact us or call. But if you’re still ready to forge ahead on your own, read our next blog to see . . . how to attract more readers.
