On this day in history, April 14, 1860, the first pony express rider arrived in San Francisco and made communication history. Later that year, the riders made history again, when they brought news of Abraham Lincoln’s election to the West Coast only seven days and 17 hours after the East Coast papers had published the election results. It was an unrivalled feat of speed.
Sounds pretty quaint and heroic, doesn’t it? A bunch
of young men on horseback, relaying pieces of mail across American West. Now what if I were to tell you that your digital marketing strategy might look just as quaint, heroic and outdated to us as the Pony Express seems to you?
This might sound like an exaggeration, but it’s not. Our future clients often start out by saying, “I have a website, I send out an e-newsletter, and I have forms available on line. That’s pretty cutting edge, isn’t it?” The problem is, it’s not, and it’s our job to tell them why, gently but firmly.
The conversation usually goes something like this:
Yes, we say, it’s great to have a website; but does it work equally well on smartphones, tablets and desktops? If your patient searches Google for the services you offer or want
to promote, will you come out on top? No? Do you have a blog? Not yet? Well, that’s definitely something you should think about . . .
Okay, let’s move on. Are you posting to social media? Yes, it’s great that you have a Facebook account, but I notice that nobody on your staff has posted in months. Too busy? Yes, we totally get it. Have you thought about Google+ and LinkedIn? Too much for your staff? What about video? No, it’s not impossibly expensive . . .
Metrics are important, you know. Are you measuring results? Not there either? Yes, we totally understand . . . and we can help.
At some point in the conversation, the light bulbs turn on. Our clients begin to see that Internet marketing strategies from ten, or even five, years ago, won’t work today, and that their heroic efforts to “go digital” aren’t doing much more than take them away from the work they do best.
We at CCDM can change all that. We can do the heavy lifting so that you can get back to what you love – in this case caring for patients. We can make it easy, we can make it seamless, and (dare we say), we can make it fun.
So don’t wait a minute longer. Don’t let your practice be the Pony Express of the 21st century. Call us today.
